How was Jerry’s talk for you? This isn’t so much about whether we invite him back (although we may if lots of us liked him in two or three years’ time). Did you enjoy the genre? Did you feel inspired, indifferent or uninterested?
Very interesting night, good speaker that kept a good pace all night, i don’t often stay for the second half but i did tonight. Nice to see a different style braking all the judges rules..
I enjoyed last night – I found Jerrys talk interesting and his images evoked a mixture of reactions – overall I came away thinking about trying different approaches and styles which is a positive
I admit to only staying for the first half which is a 1st for me. I enjoyed his images and loved the way he used his wide angled lens to get a different perspective on subjects. I also liked the way he broke rules 😊. Personally, I felt his presentation style was somewhat lacking in enthusiasm. For me he didn’t engage with his audience. As I said, I stayed for the first half only so this may have improved in the second half…?
Thanks for responding Louise. I feel that in the first half, because Jerry hadn’t successfully turned on the mic, his voice wasn’t traveling well. In the second half, I made sure it was on. Perhaps that would have changed your experience. Note to self… ensure the mic is on!
I found the talk very interesting. I enjoyed the genre and certainly felt inspired. I will definitely be going out to try and put his techniques into practice. I would have liked to have seen more of Jerrys photos even when they weren’t mono. He quite often mentioned the colour was better – I would have loved to have seen the colour as well! Thank you, yet another good choice of speaker!
I wasn’t there on monday but have known Jerry for years. I expect he mentioned it but he runs an interesting street photography workshop in Brighton with Steve Boyle ( a london Salon member) if you want to try something different
