KeymasterWhat did you think about the evening?
Was the topic of interest?
Did you like the presentation style?
Would you like to see this speaker again (various talks on different topics available)? -

ParticipantVery interesting documentary style presentation about someone that I had never heard about until the presentation. Although I prefer ‘how-to’ style of talks, with tips and hints on how to take certain types of shots, I did find this far more interesting than I would have imagined. Good speaker with an engaging presentation style and format, and would be happy to see him again, possibly talking about archiving and preserving old photos, slides, negatives and documents.
Cheers. Steve

ParticipantI echo Steve’s comments. As a one-off it was very interesting, moving and thought provoking. Clearly passionate about his subject, probably for very obvious reasons. I wish I had brought my wife as a “guest” as, when I got home I found out she knew all about Lee Miller and had already booked to visit the house in just a couple of weeks’ time. She would have probably got even more out of it than I did!
Thanks, Brian

I knew about Henry Penrose and his work to pay tribute to Lee Miller. However, I knew nothing about the details he presented last night. It was an outstanding talk encompassing social issues, important developments in art and photography during the 20th Century, the ways in which to cope with archiving a massive photographic collection. ( How will our family cope with the thousands of digital images we all store on computers, the ‘cloud’ etc?) This was a most memorable evening.
Well done John,

ParticipantVery interesting talk. I knew about Lee Miller but not to this extent. Very informative and much better than I had expected. Anthony was a very engaging speaker, honest and candid… very grateful that he is willing to share this journey with us. I’ve driven past the house so many times… I’ll now actually go and visit one Sunday!
As others have said, I prefer ‘how you can achieve this photo’ type of talks usually, but occasional talks about a famous photographers would be great in the future. I’m hooked!

ParticipantI had a speaker come to the club a few years ago who gave us a very interesting talk on Lee Miller. I can’t remember if it was her grand daughter, but I’m sure it was a family member. It was very interesting then, and last night’s version by Antony was even better. A very personal and knowledgeable approach to telling us his mother’s story, and how they set about dealing with the priceless legacy of all the pictures Lee had taken in her life. Along with others who have commented on this subject, a visit to the house is now to be planned. An excellent evening.
Perhaps we all now need to look at how and where we store our images from now on. I know I’ve loads of negs and colour slides stored away in the loft that I really must get around to sorting . Thankfully, nowhere near 60,000 of them.
